Where can the pfsense log files be located and viewed?
I have searched the documentation and it doesn't indicate the log files location for the various components of pfsense.

In the nanobsd 2.0.3 release at least, they are found by going to:
cd /var/log
(not plural logs ;)clog system.log | less
- Replace
system.log
with name of any log in the directory. - Because these log files are not regular text files, but are actually binary circular logs, then the clog utility is used to view them and
| less
pipes the output to less so that you can scroll up and down through the logs using page up/down keys. Pressq
to exit.
- Replace
- When you are done viewing logs and want to return from the shell prompt back to the pfsense menu, type
exit
at the command prompt.

pfSense stores its log files in the
/var/log
directory. The logs are not stored in the standard text-based format. Instead they are stored in a 'circular logging' format. Use the
clog
tool to view the logs. You can use it similarly to the tail
command. i.e. clog -f /var/log/system.log
will display the entire log and then continue to 'follow' it.Aaron C. de BruynAaron C. de Bruyn
Simpler way of looking at logs - log into the pfsense web console and Select 'Edit File' within 'Diagnostics'. Here you can browse the directory
/var/log/system.log

I was configuring accounts of users in Open Suse 11.3 from Yast. I knew the password of each one, but the problem is that when I went into Yast User and Group Management there was six asterisks in the password input. I ignore that, i though it was the password I set before.
But when I went into lockscreen, I typed the password and it does not work, so I guess that the password have been change to that Yast default.
The question is, what is that password?

Most Linksys brand routers have a default password of admin and a default IP address of 192.168.1.1 but some differ, as you can see in the table below.
Once in, don't forget to change the default router password from admin to something more secure.
More help is below the table if you don't see your Linksys model below, the listed default password won't work, or you have another question.
Linksys Default Passwords (Valid May 2019)
[1] The Linksys E4200 router comes in two hardware versions, v1 and v2. Version 1 does not require a username at all, while Version 2 requires admin as the username.
[2] The Linksys Velop mesh Wi-Fi routers are controlled via the Linksys app, so you don't need to know the IP address of the Velop router or the router's username or password. See the user guide for the Velop router to learn more about how to use it with the Linksys app.
[3] To access the Linksys MR8300 from a web browser, you have to have first set it up via the Linksys app.

What to Do When the Linksys Default Data Above Doesn't Work
You really only have one choice when your Linksys device's default password or default username has been changed and you don't know what they are: reset the device to factory defaults.
For most Linksys devices, a factory reset is as easy as pressing and holding the tiny Reset button for at least 10 seconds (30 seconds on older models) and then unplugging and plugging back in the device.
If that doesn't work, check your router or other device's manual where you'll find specific advice for that Linksys model. You can find your device's manual in PDF format from Linksys Support.
A factory reset will also return the IP address that's configured for your Linksys device back to 192.168.1.1, or whatever the default may be, but doing so could cause problems.
If your Linksys router's IP address is all you're after, please know that it's also almost always the same as the default gateway that's configured for your computers and other devices that connect to it.
See How to Find the Default Gateway IP Address if you're not sure where to look for that at.
